How our Hemp seed oil stopped Skyla's barking?
Recently a very nice couple came into my store with the beautiful 3yr Golden Retriever Skyla & said they considered rehoming her......as she kept barking!
They told me she barks almost constantly…. has since they got get at 8wks. They did all the right things: took her to Puppy then Dog training, she got plenty of off leash socialisation with other dogs 🐕 and walks….but she still barked! To remedy this their vet had Sklya on 7 meds incl Valium & Prozac ......but she stil barked!
She had been on these drugs for the past year with NO improvements!! HHmmmmmmm???? Her humans decided to take her off all of these altogether once they got her onto our HSO and new fresh diet!!
NONE of the trainers asked "WHAT ARE YOU FEEDING HER"
They had a trainer come to their home & a Dog Behaviourist. Neither helped they told me! The last one referred them to a vet for a Behavioural Assessment & to increase her medication....really
She slept in their bedroom in her bed & Skyla would get up at least 5 times a night to pee!! As the house didn't have a Dog door one of the family would have to get up to take her into the garden
When I am presented with a Dog with behavioural or health problems my 1st question is always "WHAT are you feeding your Dog incl treats?"
Skyla's diet was basically a kibble/dry dog food, they were told was the 'best kibble' by the staff at their local 'big box store'. When I looked at the ingredients I saw this list: rice, corn, corn gluten, wheat, animal fats ( cooked fats from fast food joints ), chicken meal ( by products ) beet pulp
Beet pulp is a cheap by-product of sugar cane that's commonly used in dry dog food and is associated with hidden danger to pups – in particular it's linked with low levels of the essential amino acid, taurine, which is associated with a serious health condition called dilated cardiomyopathy.
Canine dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) is a primary disease of cardiac muscle that results in a decreased ability of the heart to generate pressure to pump blood through the vascular system. In 2019 a dog food company in the USA created a Vegetarian dry food: using chickpeas, beans, peas .....vegetable based proteins to replace meat. Problem was that is was too high in carbohydrates.....& 1000's of Dogs across the USA resulted in DCM. ( REF: Dr Karen Becker, Holistic vet USA )
I told Skylas vet I could rehome her easily, BUT I suggest taking her off that food as when I googled the ingredients I saw it contained very little REAL MEAT, ( beef meal: meal is a bi-product of real meat and often rendered down using fat/skin/hormones/preservatives ) It ALSO contained rice, corn, beet pulp ( sugar cane ) tapioca, sorghum etc. These are popular 'fillers' in many processed Dog foods as it's cheap, BUT these ingredients create inflammation in a Dog's body: including brain/ cognitive changes, joint/arthritis, gut/ damages immune system )
I recommended they take her off that or any highly processed food and change Skyla to the only Australian food we sell..... BALANCED LIFE rehydrate. Made in Victoria using :

I recommended we start giving Skylas our Australian Hemp seed oil; they agreed and I gave her 2 droppers full in my store. I said go take her for a walk and come back in half and hour.... They did and said her barking did seem to stop so much! Yes our HSO can work that quickly for some Dogs

I am a true believer that food may influence behaviour!
